Cisco Partner Summit 2016 - San Francisco

Last week Cisco hosted it’s second Partner Summit of 2016 in San Francisco, CA. At the summit Cisco announced the release of numerous new products and product updates to its partners. A few members of the LookingPoint team attended the summit and shared with us their top takeaways and exciting announcements from the Partner Summit.

  1. Cisco Spark Flex Plan
    • The new Cisco Spark Flex Plan allows customers to buy any Cisco Collaboration products in a single subscription, as opposed to the past buying method old separate subscriptions for each product. With licenses that are transportable across products this new plan allows customers to migrate from on premise to cloud-based solutions with ease.
  2. Cisco Spark Depot
    • Cisco Spark Depot is a new platform where customers can go to find business applications that can be integrated with their Cisco Spark products. With the new integration tool, customers can initiate Spark features without leaving the application they are in, which is particularly valuable for mobile users.
  3. Cisco Hybrid Spark Media Service
    • This hybrid product optimizes audio, video and web experiences for all users. This is done using on premise connection for local users and cloud connection for remote users, which lowers the amount of bandwidth to and from the cloud.
  4. UCS S3260 S-Series
    • The new Cisco UCS S3260 S-Series is a storage-optimized server, designed to address the needs of data-intensive workloads. Built around rapid scalability and cloud connectivity will help organizations handle the growth of unstructured data. Based on Cisco's C3160 rack server, the S3260 has up to 600 TB of storage capacity, 90 TB of solid state drive flash, cache acceleration capabilities. It also provides scaling with Cisco's UCS Manager software and delivers unified input/output (I/O) connectivity for any type of storage.
  5. UCS Developer Center
    • The Cisco DevNet team has made UCS Manager and UCS Director APIs more easily accessible by developer. The DevNet team has also included self-paced learning labs and personalized learning tracks in the updates UCS Developer Center.
  6. AMP for Endpoints
    • Cisco announced updates to their Advanced Malware Protection for Endpoints (AMP) simplifying endpoint security by providing prevention, detection and response to breaches and delivering this services as a Software-as-a-Service offering. The update includes an antivirus engine, improved endpoint search, cognitive threat analytics and a new dashboard user interface.
  7. Cisco ONE Advanced Security
    • Cisco announced a new extension of the currently existing Cisco ONE Software licensing model, Cisco ONE Advanced Security program. The new security program includes three advanced security software suites: threat defense for the data center, threat defense for WAN and the edge, and policy and threat defense for access domains.
  8. ONE Enterprise Cloud Suite
    • Cisco also announced the extension of the existing Cisco ONE Licensing program, ONE Enterprise Cloud Suite. The new cloud suite includes four new offerings: infrastructure automation, service management, cloud management and big data automation. The services are offered in one-, three- and five-year licensing options.
